SvN has been working with ERA Architects on the Toronto Community Housing “ReSet” Project, a total renewal of TCH communities where critical improvements are needed. We are currently implementing an energy retrofit of three towers, including window replacement and structural restoration, as well as a childcare addition and landscape improvements. The new daycare is the first element of the Lawrence-Orton Master Plan that will be implemented.

The ongoing design and community engagement project began with a year-long comprehensive study of the Lawrence-Orton Community in Scarborough. The SvN team was selected by community members themselves and we worked directly with the community for nearly a year on building a comprehensive understanding of the spectrum of issues and unique opportunities prevalent in Lawrence-Orton. SvN prepared a master plan for a deep retrofit of primary infrastructure issues as well as the living units, the landscapes, and the social spaces. As capital becomes available through internal (critical capital repairs) and/or external (SHARP funding through the Province or “Partner funding”) sources, elements of the master plan are being implemented.
