Laboratorio Acapulco
Laboratorio Acapulco
Our Co-Designing with Nature proposal was selected for the Laboratorio Acapulco exhibition, hosted at thr Former College of San Ildefonso in Mexico City. Presented as part of Mextropoli Festival, this exhibit sparks a vital conversation about the future of Acapulco through a collective dialogue that spans art, culture, architecture, and environment stewardship.
Laboratorio Acapulco reflects on the devastating impact of Hurricane Otis, which struck Acapulco with unprecedented force in October 2023, and challenges us to think beyond rebuilding. It urges us to resignify the territory by envisioning a sustainable future that addresses systemic inequalities and environmental fragility.
Our proposal focuses on the rehabilitation of Acapulco’s water system as a comprehensive strategy for ecological, social, and economic recovery in the face of the growing threat of climate change. The project also highlights nature-based solutions, such as the revitalization of Acapulco Bay, addressing mountain slope areas, the La Sabana River alluvial plain, and the Acapulco Diamante and Laguna de Tres Palos area. These solutions include the creation of green systems, river corridors, integrated water management, and the promotion of sustainable urban mobility.
