John van Nostrand to speak at Northern Policy Institute

SvN Principal John van Nostrand will speak on the subject of Planning the Mid-Canada Corridor at the Northern Policy Institute’s ‘Policy in a Pub’ event on June 17 at 6:30 pm at Gargoyles in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The Northern Policy Institute invited van Nostrand to speak after the Walrus published an article he wrote on the subject in its September 2014 edition. The Walrus has made van Nostrand’s article, “If We Build It, They Will Stay,” available to download, print or read online on their website.

Regions experiencing rapid change have opportunities to foster emerging economies, through the careful management of land, infrastructure, buildings and the natural environment. We help communities and government bodies plan for the future in ways that are both visionary and pragmatic.
We apply our thorough understanding of the provincial and municipal regulatory context to develop studies and public policy instruments for local, provincial and federal governments and First Nations. These include: zoning by-laws, official plans, municipal development plans, local official plans, secondary plans, neighbourhood plans, and urban design guidelines.
