SvN are the planning consultants which led the planning approvals for the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority’s (TRCA) new head offices at 5 Shoreham Drive.
Set back from the top of the Black Creek ravine and demonstrating exemplary green building and site development practices, the proposal is an exciting city building opportunity—a true demonstration of TRCA’s mission to advance the “Living City” by conserving, restoring and celebrating the region’s natural heritage.
The proposal aims to achieve Tier II Toronto Green Standards, LEED Platinum and WELL Building Silver Certifications, featuring a number of green building best practices including an expansive green roof, renewable energy sources and building design that maximize passive heating and cooling strategies. TRCA is striving to meet zero-carbon status for the building, and to evaluate the project using the five key components from the Canadian Green Building Council’s (CaGBC) Carbon Framework. The Project has been approved by CaGBC as a pilot study participant under their Zero Carbon Building Immersion Program.
