With over 18 years of professional experience working in multiple scales of architectural practice in New York and Toronto, Kai joined SvN in 2024, after having led Hotson Architecture since 2013. Kai is committed to creating high-quality buildings and environments for living and learning. Over the course of his career, he has been involved in a leading role on a variety of projects, ranging from residential housing, community and university buildings, commercial interiors, to master planning and competitions. Kai’s work has been recognized for design innovation through awards and publications, the most recent of which include the Architizer A+ Award and Shaw Contract Design Award for the University of British Columbia tə šxʷhəleləm̓s tə k̓ʷaƛ̓kʷəʔaʔɬ Student Residence.

Kai currently serves on the City of Vancouver Urban Design Panel.
