Kiran is an emerging landscape designer with two years of experience, and a recent graduate from the Master of Landscape Architecture program at the University of Toronto. Her aspirations lie at the intersection of climate justice and urbanism where she aims to articulate research-led design solutions that are architecturally minded and ecologically sound. Her curiosity has been instrumental to how she positions herself in a role of responsibility as a designer, as she looks towards a climate positive future. Kiran also worked at the Toronto Landscape Observatory where she engaged with people from different areas of expertise to make a case for why we must restructure the way we respond to landscape in order to fundamentally shift our cultural aspirations for the future of a place.

Kiran won the Daniels Faculty Design prize for her thesis project and first publication, Atlas of Unsettling Ecologies, which launched an inquiry into environmental narratives of plastic pollution and the vulnerable ecologies that lie outside the binary of climate justice and climate chaos. She also received the Toronto Society of Architects scholarship for her demonstration of commitment towards building community amongst her peers and her impactful work as a student union leader in service of equity deserving groups.
