TVO on Church Conversions and SvN’s Church of the Ascension

SvN’s renovation project for the Church of the Ascension in Hamilton is profiled in TVO’s The Agenda. Their profile on Church Conversions included a tour and interview with Principal Drew Sinclair.

SvN has been providing planning and architectural services to churches of all denominations to find new opportunities to stay active.

The Church of the Ascension in Hamilton found itself with only about 50 congregants for Sunday service in a space meant to accommodate 500. SvN renovated the main sanctuary into a convertible space for hosting dinner events and performances. “Historically the church events were outside of this room…The decision to move the pews out and make the sanctuary a multi-function space…was a really major decision.” says Drew Sinclair. “The sense here is that it would always be a Church. The response internally within the church community has been very positive.”
