In her article “Kingmeadow: Minto Group inspired by legend of Northern Dancer at new Oshawa development” on the front page of the Toronto Star’s “New in Homes” section, Tracy Hanes writes, “They will be drawn by the affordable prices and the location, but purchasers at Kingmeadow in Oshawa will also be getting a piece of thoroughbred racing history.”
SvN was hired by Minto to prepare the Kingmeadow Plan of Subdivision and to lead the approvals process. The objective was to guide the creation of a more sustainable type of subdivision than is typical of the past few decades of suburban development – a complete and compact community with a range of residential unit types including single detached dwellings, townhouses, and back-to-back townhouses in a walkable and transit-oriented neighbourhood. The Plan also includes a number of community amenities, including two schools, a neighbourhood park, a trail system along natural features and is directly adjacent to commercial areas.
