SvN assisted consulting firm rePlan in the preparation of two Social Impact Assessments for Barrick Gold Corporation’s $1.5 billion redevelopment of the Pueblo Viejo gold mine in the Dominican Republic in accordance with international best practice. The first Assessment pertained to the mine site and the second to a proposed 120 kilometre-long transmission line. The assessments included a comprehensive Social Management System that featured public consultation and disclosure, employment, worker housing, skills development and education, environmental management, community health and safety, community development, land acquisition and resettlement.
